whats this hole thingy on GZE cam cover

i had a look at some GZE halfcuts for a mr2 today and noticed that they all had this hole with a plug sort of thing on the cam cover that has the oil filler cap.

the NA 4ages dont have this.

just curios on what it is there for.

the gze's in an mr2 didn't have that hole there, as they are a top mount but mounted to the side of the engine bay, only the corolla/levin gze's had them for their topmount

the aw11's have the hole there as well...

it just isnt used.. but yes the levins used that hole to bolt the intercooler down to.

oh ok,

yeah i thought it looked like an intercooler mount but the std intercooler wasnt mounterd there. and it had some little rubber plug in it that confused me even more.

is that the halfcut your looking at ?

thats not a standard MR2 enigne.. it is from a ae92/ae101 levin.

notice...
different plumbing arrangment off the SC.
different plumbing into throttle body.
individual coil packs,
CAS no dizzy,
like NA engine cover.
obvisouly not standard intercooler setup.
engine lid catch in N/A position


this looks like a conversion just be careful buying a half cut that is already a conversion as it may have been a little more molested then you want. especially in the electrical dept.

thats not the half cut, thats just a pic from some mr2 int he states, i have seen that pic before.

toof thats interesting that aw11 have it aswell, must be only late model ones as mine doesn't have it, they probably redesigned the cover it when they put the motor in the corolla, and just used the one part

the ae92 covers are different in the sense they are not painted where the aw11 ones are...

that red photo is a conversion. na lids and catches and the manifolds on the charger are from an ae92. the cam covers probaly are too given they are not painted . just cleaned up and the lettering painted.

i think ive found a good half cut with low Kms at SSS automotive and it aso comes with TRD shocks for the front and rear. im probably going get it some time over the next few days hopefully

wow thats pretty rich.

although i guess they are starting to get a little thin on the ground. if you want extra hands with the conversion im sure most of the aw11oa guys would help out.. myself included.

Wiso, your car does have the whole as do all GZE's i have ever seen.
Have another look matey and stay off the crack,it is bad.
