ok tell the nice ppl out there what size the trye on there is at the moment.
Gday.
i picked up a set of 14x5s for my celica yesterday and they have a lower profile thiner tyre than what i want. im looking for tyre size suggestions for a beefyer bulkyer tyre possibly a tiny bit wider then the rim to get that sexy bulge. and also to help fill the guards up that last little bit (been lowered about 4cm)
suggestions would be appreciated
Cheers
Rohan

GOSH, yeah that would help.
currently 185/60 R14s
next query is which celica? My ST162 cam out with 14x6.5 rims with 195/60 standard in australia. But else where on the same rims had 185's and 205's.

oh shit im on a roll today its a Late model TA22
ok i would say use the 195/60 or the 205/55 thats if they fit on the rim. My 205/60r14 bulge out abit but the 195/60r14 are straight with the rim. Take the rims to a tyre place and have a look at what you think looks better. If you're gonna buy the tyres off them they are normally nice about it, but some aren't.

My bad i've just checked the calculator and the 205's won't fit on the 5" rim. So you'll have to go the 195/60.

wider isnt always better
on a 5 inch wide rim im pretty sure u cant run 195's either, appart from that your going to have huge bagging and sideway squashing.
try 175/65/14
ive got 14x7's on my car and when i buy new tyres in going for 185/60/14
try get some wider wheels perhaps?

Should be able to get either size tyre from any good tyre shop

60 series is still a fairly tall profile, and if you put a wide tyre on a thin rim, the rim itself will move side to side within the tyre, which will give shitty handling and feel weird.
for 185/60R14, the rim range (for some tyres) is 5-6.5". you should NOT go bigger
although, yokohama has one tyre (designed for older street machines, Y352) which has this size
P195/60R14 (85H) 195 60 14 5 ~ 7.5 so it would just fit on a 5", but you may find it difficult to get a reputable tyre shop to fit it..

if you want wider tyres... perhaps you bought the wrong rims![]()

i dont really want any wider just somthing that fits the rim better. width doesnt bother me its more the hight of the tyre. my current stock steel 14x4s have a taller tyre than teh 14x5s
just a though could it be the actually brand/line of tyre that makes them so small cause the are deffently a thinner profile than what i would call "standard"
something like 175R14 is a 75 series tyre.
60 series is not as tall, but better for handling and cornering.
i take it you are not concerned with performance at all?
are you sure stock are 4"? are they not 4.5 or 5"?
i think you should disuss your options with a tyre shop, and tell them exactly what you think is "better". perhaps you want a "standard" size of 165 or 175R14? to give you that nice tall sidewall and actually fit on the rim properly?

are you saying these have a different rolling diameter to the stock wheels and tyres you have'?
