Tacho on the 1GEU comes from the negative side of the coil.
Tacho on the 1GGTE comes from the IG- wire on the ignitor (same as the IG- wire in the diagnostics box).
Neither come from the ECU.
You'll need a booster to get the original tacho to work with the 1GGTE ignitor as well.

So do i need to connect the dash loom tacho wire to the ignitor. Can you please explain to be about the booster? Is the booster covered here? http://www.toymods.org.au/forums/sho...ht=1ggte+tacho
Seams reasonably simple...
Yes, booster is covered there.
The booster 'input' will be the IG- wire (this wire will also be on the ~20pin dash interface plug)
The booster 'output' goes to the dash loom wire.

So i could splice right into it then connect it to the tacho? The booster 'input' will be the IG- wire (this wire will also be on the ~20pin dash interface plug)
Side note: Alot of Toyota ECUs have the pinouts written on the PCB. If you pop the cover off the ECU you can read them easily.
This worked on my old 1G-GTE![]()
