Default How to install tacho booster? 1ggte - ra65.

    I made myself this booster.
But can't work out where to wire it? It's a gen 2 1ggte, so can anyone help me with where I wire it at the ecu and towards the cluster?

    Cheers,
    Blair.

Here is a pic of the gen 2 pinout, there are 4 things there that say they're the tacho.

Visit your local Jaycar Electronics store and purchase the following:

    • ZT2115 - BC337 transistor - $0.42
    • ZR1007 - 1N4007 diodes, pack of 4 - $0.60
    • RR0582 - 2k7 resistors, pack 8, $0.46
    • SY4068 - SPST 4-pin relay, $7.95
    • PT4525 - red female spade crimp terminals, pk 8, $2.75
    • WH5532 - 3.0mm black heatshrink, $1.85
    • WH5533 - 5.0mm black heatshrink, $1.95
    • WH5554 - 6.0mm clear heatshrink, $2.25

Now im too lazy to bother opening up a relay and doing some finicky soldering to the guts of it..... so i did an external version.

    METHOD:

    1. Start by soldering the 2k7 resistor and 1N4007 diode together. Pay attention to the diode - the grey band should point towards the resistor
    2. Now solder the other end of the resistor to the base (B) leg of the BC337 transistor. Note the pinouts of the BC337 below
    3. Solder wires to the other two legs of the transistor. "E" of the transistor goes to earth, "C" of the transistor goes to the tacho output and also the relay coil.

    4. Attach spade terminals as follows, and connect to your relay.

    Anyone?

I need to know which of the 4 tacho signal wires I use off the ecu?

Also which wire over near the fuse box in the ra65?

I don't see 4 things that say they are the Tacho on that ECU pin out .... ?

The tacho signal that goes to the dash will come from the IGNITER, not the ECU.

    Make sense?

It's off the igniter dude, and it will be on the body plug, not the ECU plug (from memory of course). You can verify you have the right one by checking it against the one in the check connector.

Can you see the 4 things that say engine revolution signal? Guess not.

Ah you were talking about the ones labelled "Engine Revolution Sensor"... my mind doesn't correlate them with "Tacho", but I can understand how you did.

They are the inputs to the ECU so that the ECU knows how fast the engine is turning and it's position... if you're interested you can read about it the below pdf, page 13->... from www.autoshop101.com

you may have a output wire on your ecu that can be programmed to send the tacho signal
    that's what mine does

grey/blue wire on micrwreck is the tacho wire or ignitor trigger wire
anyway conenct this to tacho booster input
your tacho wont read correct anyway so might not be worth it
just get a wankameter 5in tacho and be done with it hehehe
