    Default Help needed about 1J

    Ohk lads get to point,

Just helped finished wiring up a mates rig and the car won't fire up.

Got power to igniter, coils, injectors AND fuel pump and still won't fire up. BUT the fuel pump sounds very quiet (stock) can barely hear it, are they suppose to have a loud wizzling sound? Have checked fuel return line also and fuel is only pumping out quite slow? normal? or are they suppose to pump out like when you had a carton of beer??

My point is, is the fuel pump being gheyy? or is the fuel pump not getting enough voltage to it? or is it something else?

Also i will end up wiring the fuel pump with the two rely with FPC where someone posted on here. At the moment the fuel pump is wired to B+ constant power.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Heng

you cant check without a gauge.. but if you take the inlet line off and put it into a 2ltr bottle or container and it pisses out then its pritty safe to say its got fuel going up to the engine, then its down to spark at the plug, compression and timing

When you say stock pump, stock for what?

My 1J cressida came with a fkn loud GTR pump in it (that was probably dying) - i swapped it to a walbro, and now i have to strain to hear it.. So while its obviously apples and oranges, surely a stock pump wouldn't be louder?

    A Cressida!

I think i will have to wire up the fuel pump properly and see if that will solve the problem.. If not then i im just gonna set the thing on fire. Will double check everything else too.

    Will do it this weekend.

Hengsta, first step, would be to replace the fuel filter.

    cheers Chuck.

if its cranking over then try running the fuel pump off a relay thats switched on ign. +12v batt (30), ign +12v (85), ground (86) and fuel pump (87). fuel pump wire is on the sqaure grey body plug on the cressida its a thicker wire, blue with a red stripe normally on the bottom left corner if your looking from the back of it (not the back of the male engine loom plug). If it still doesn't work then you have most likely eliminated the fuel as being a problem. I wouldn't recommend this to be the permenent solution to switching the fuel pump. But at least you know its working.

    hi mate
i just finished wiring my cressida and have it running, in terms of fuel wiring, i ended up bridging the fuel pump resistor wires which sits on the drivers side strut tower and connected the FPR wire on the 1jz loom to the 22pin mx83 FPR wire. Mine started first kick no probs at all

you could do it a simular way with the oil pressure switch light instead to trigger the relay.
