sounds like it could be the wheel bearings as you said.
hey all
lately my cars front suspension has been getting worse.. it was clunking and creaking right under my foot and can feel it when turning and braking?? i changed my sway bar bushes which were terrible. helped a little but not huge. also hearing whirring noises.. seem to feel this all round my feet. sounds like its coming from both sides.
Ive grabbed the wheels and gave them a big shake. didnt seem like their was a lot of free play, car was moving not just the wheel. but im still thinking it could be wheel bearings??
thanks

is there another way to diagnose before i start pulling it apart?? my bushes could be pretty old, but i dont really know where to look for wear on the spherical bushes

put it on a hoist
put your shoulder under the wheel.
push wheel upward
listen for clunks -> usually signs of balljoints
repeat procedure and instead, turn wheel side to side
hello
fwiw: when i got my GT4 running i discovered the nuts holding the inner lower-control arm bushes on were loose - i got random toe-in and clunking.
suggestion: lift car up and do a spanner check on every accessible nut/bolt on the suspension on both sides, drop back down and test drive.
creaking when turning?
Could be strut bearing.
I totally agree with everyone above. Your best bet is to get it up on a lift and check for sources by moving the wheels like your turning (might need another person to turn the wheel while your listening). I believe that it is probably bad CV boots on the CV drive axle but that's just my guess.
Flogged ball joints can be pretty deceptive - mine were gone and you could feel it through the floor, but it also aounded like it was coming from alot higher up.
Tighten everything first, then try to move the wheel by hand should - top and bottom, and left and right, then up and down.
