Default Strange fuel problem (non toyota)

    Hi
I have a weird problem in my Sherpa. It likes to try and stall when going around a right hand corner at pretty much any speed. The Float level in the carby has been checked and its fine.
The weird thing is that it doesn't happen when the engine is cold, like when i go around the round about at the bottom of our road.
Any ideas on where to start looking?
    Thanks,
    Josie

Oh, and if its parked with the left hand side lower (on an angle) it tends to try to flood the engine, e.g, have to hold throttle halfway/fully down to start.. and then get a faint smell of fuel..

you may have the correct setting for the float level but you may have problems with the float itself, possibly could have a hole, best bet is to take it out and shake it close to your ear... also is the needle and seat any good?... if the seat is worn that could be a major problem and needs to be re-seated

another check would be to check the fuel filter, could be full of crap

I replaced the fuel filter a couple of months ago.. this problem has been there since i got the car about 6 months ago but i'm just sick of it now.. lol
I'll look into the other bits.
God knows how i'll go finding a carby kit for this!

If the float is a black plastic looking one ( proper name Nitrophyl ) then it could be sinking instead of floating because they become porous and act like a sponge when they get old. If it has a brass float it could have a hole in it causing it to sink.
To check the Nitrophyl float you need to dry it off with a rag and see if any damp spots appear. If any damp spots appear after you dry it off then it is porous. If you can't buy a new one then leave it somewhere warm so the fuel evaporates out of it and then give it a thin coating of Araldite to seal it.
Brass floats can be soldered up if they leak , but make sure you warm it up to evaporate all the fuel out of it first.

    Awesome never thought of that!
It is a Nitrophyl one (well its plasticy anyway so i assume so) i'll try your method
It was broken in two peices once when i took the carby top off, so i glued it back together thinking that would have been the problem, but it still had the same issue..
