With the throttle linkages I can help.
There from the 2 different series silvertops. I believe it was series 1 had 2 and series 2 had 1 or reverse. A quick search should be ableto help you with the series. Billzillas site would have it no doubt
Hi guys,
Im fairly new to these engines and just looking for some info. A couple of you guys tried to help me with my car a couple of weeks ago when it lost spark but unfortunatly i couldnt resolve the problem but i just bought a new car. It is basicly the same as my track car but has rego and im cleaning it up with all the good parts and ive swapped the wheels n stuff over and put the good interior parts in it. The paint work buffed up fairly well.
My track car ECU 89661 12770 has 3 plugs: 26p 16p 12p
The street car ECU 89661 12780 also with 3 plugs: 26p 16p 22p. Ive learnt this is an auto ecu..
1- The track car cuts out at 7500rpm and the street car is at 8200 rpm. Why is it different?
2- Ive noticed the throttle set-up is slightly different. The track car has one linkage and the street car has two. Whats the storey here ?
3- Is there any other ECUs which is interchangable with 88661 12770 as i think it may be damaged and am having trouble finding one.

I believe that If you don't have a VSS (vehicle Speed Sensor) input to the ECU, it will limit max revs to something like the 7500 your track car is seeing, since it thinks you are free revving. The auto ecu may not have that rev cut, or may have the speed sensor correctly wired to the ECU.
Dare I say it, but "Silvertop" is a very poor description for a engine as many of them are silver (aluminium) and a fair few Toyota motors have silver painted cam covers.
I gather you are talking about a 4A-GE from a AE101 series Corolla/Sprinter. The early AE101 engine has the more complicated throttle linkage.
I have been told, to get the ECU to work best, you need to have the road speed sensor hooked up (to your speedo). Plus all the other factory sensors, coolant temp being one of the most important. The O2 sensor maybe least important, but worth thinking about.
Thanks guys
Ok so the speed sensor affects the redline. How do i go about correctly wiring it to the ECU?
Incase this information is relivant:
Both my cars have speedo cables and the same standed instrument clusters
On a second hand box i bought off ebay as a spare i noticed it has this plug in it.

Yes, your spare box has an electronic speedo sensor in it. You should be able to take it out and just use the normal cable speedo.
Your normal speedo in the dash has the road-speed sensor you need, even the normal cable version.
Get info on the ECU pinouts to find the wire that is needed.
Take the dash cluster out and find the road-speed pin. Something to give you a hint maybe printed on the circuit board.

I have a spare manual ecu for a silvertop, send me a PM
find the 4 pulse per revolution output from the back of the dash cluster, that needs to go to the speed sensor input on the ECU, its in the 12 pin plug on a manual AE101 ecu.
Check the diagram at club4ag for the auto pinouts, but I do believe the auto had a lower rev limiter.
Yeah JP auto is lower limiter

I didnt think the manifolds were different!. Thanks for the info guys. I done the front main seal and timing belt the other day, Fairly quick n easy job, I like these engines.
I got hold of one thanks!.. Turns out i didnt need it
Cheers mate i got this info and print outs of the ECU wires thanks
My auto ECU cuts out at 8200, i thought that was high!.
