    Default Attaching/detaching side mirrors??

hey people. i took my side mirrors off yesterday to give them a quick paint job. it was a total bitch to take them off. there was a spring that ran all the way through the body of the mirror, rather like a U shape and the two ends of the spring hooked onto pieces attached to the rest of the mirror attached to the car door.

I had to use two small pieces of metal to push the spring hook up and out. im not sure how ill get it back on as the spring is VERY tight when attached. If anyone has tips or tricks they could share that'd be perfect??

also on this issue. my passenger side mirror has cracked and i dont wanna replace the whole unit. is there anyway i can just stick a mirror ontop of the cracked on thats there now??

    thanks
    Gerald
