    Default r154 box differences

so u can get the r154 box on
    ma70
    jza70
    jzz30
    jzx90
    jzx100
    and iam sure alot more.

basic question is. apart from the remote shifter is there any other differences between the boxes, particularly when the 1jz is concerned.

i have a jza70 box, with the bellhousing to suit non vvti 1jz.

i want to put it in a jzx100 chaser, but iam not sure wether.

starter motor is in the same place ?
1jz and 1jz vvti bell housings are identical ?
the gearbox mounts will bolt straight up to both ?

    any help will be appreciated
    cheers

I can say for certain the shifter won’t come up through the factory hole

First two are easy 'yes' answers.

Last Q is a maybe... I've seen early R154's that didn't have the required provision to take the later model gearbox mount.

Also as said the JZA70 shifter will be in the wrong spot for JZX100.

I'm pretty sure this is a modified JZX100 mount.
See how 2 holes are far away from the other 2?

    ahhhh... thanks cruzida..
thats the best help ive had by far

so it seems from that... that my box wont just work with the standard gearbox mounts for the jzx100....

are there many 100 boxes floating around ? it may be easier just to sell mine and grab one of them yea ?

would i be able to get a 100 mount modified to fit my box u recon ?

Probably easier to source a JZX100 box, or at the least rear housing and shifter/etc.

These guys might swap rear housings/etc
