    Default Soarer turbo replacment help

    Hi fellas
I have searched and not found the answer im looking for.
ive bought some second hand turbos off grim boy.
what i want to know is when i replace my dodgy turbos with the ones ive bought.
what gaskets will i need ? and where to get them in far nrth nsw or south Qld?
what little parts are easy to break(parts i should order to make sure im not waiting on a part)?
and finally any tips for doing this swap?
    thanks matt

replacing twins in the 1j are a PITA!

i dont know about other motors but mine has gaskets between the turbo/dump manifold, on the inlets and exits of the compressor sides of the turbo, gaskets on the oil feed pipes.
all gaskets should be metal and usually are in good condition, if not replace obviously.

because they face away from each other they have to come off at the same time so remove everything you can first, intake pipes, vac lines for bov, water hoses(4 in total one small one at the back pita), oil feed lines(2bolts on the turbo 1 on the block(x2)) 3 bolts hold the turbos to the manifolds(x2)

i only just pulled mine and put them back on this weekend so any further questions just ask

dont know where you might be able to source parts from..

oil feed lines between the block and the turbo might bend depending, they have a little bit of flex in them but too much might pinch or possibly snap the line

    cheers

tips are make sure you put a whole day aside for doing the job, i have done a few sets and depending on how rusty the bolts are will take you between half a day and a full day to do it. as for parts all you need is a tube of ultra copper or something similar as all the gaskets are steel and reusable. the only thing you might want to buy is the piece of hose that connects both of the oil returns together down at the sump as it will be hard and maybe brittle. its just a straight piece of hose but has been a while and cant remember the size but think its around 7/8 or 22mm and probably 80-100mm long.
a can of wd40 or CRC is also recomended soak all the bolts with it for about 1/2 hour and makes it easier.
