    Default A342E Max Power?

    Hi,

Have read that the general consensus for a A340E from a Car like a Soarer jzz30, it can handle about 240kw. What about the A342E that comes behind a 1jz on the JZA70 supra?

Is there any internal differences in this box that affect the power handling, or is it just the gear ratio's?

    Thanks.

if you chuck a shift kit in there, along with a tranny cooler it will last heaps longer/take more power, even if you just chuck the cooler in there it'll be able to handle more power...

the clutch bands may be slightly thicker, but i think that would be about the only real strength wise difference!

    Thanks,

Where did you get the information about the clutch bands being thicker?

Only differences I know with the A340 series is that the one found behind the 2jz supra can handle more power compared to the one found behind the 1jz soarer.

So im wondering about the JZA70's Auto.

And then there is the JZX81, which apparently uses a A341LE, wondering between the differences of all these boxes found behind 1jz's from different cars.

i have a jzx81 auto behing my 1jz, it has a MV autos valve body which cost $350, stall convertor and big trans cooler currently making 412rwhp and seems to be fine. if you buy the valve body and big trans cooler your gearbox will handle heaps more power as its the slow shifts in the standard valve body that cause the gearboxes to slip and wear quickly with big power.

    Thanks,

I'm wondering though comparing the boxes stock, JZA70 A342E, to the JZX81 A341LE (95% sure thats the one), and the Soarer A340E if anybody knows about internal differences that could effect the power handling. Just surprised there is so many different boxes found behind 1jz's in different cars.
