I don't know if that would be true for an aw11. My coolant takes forever to warm up in winter.

ADAMAW11 has a blacktop in his AW11 and just uses a simple 15 row oil to air cooler like all the drufters use.

the problem with them is fitment. depending on your setup you may not have space to fit one where it will get decent airflow on an aw11. a tiny plate and frame exchanger however can be placed anywhere. and as has been said, warm-up issues aren't really an issue with a properly sized water/oil cooler

I know I can fit a standard air cooler, that's the easy option, but I wanted to look at alternatives. From some reports, v. high oil temps can be seen idling in a traffic jam with a/c on. On a 40+ degree day, temperatures on the road can be +5 or more degrees, with no airflow. I can keep the water cool, no problems - since I flushed it all thoroughly, I can't get the temp past 1/2.
Engine is going in without a cooler for now - when change the oil (soon), I will fit a cooler, probably water.
