Default Restarting a long term stored engine.

I'm looking for some advice on starting an engine that was to be stored temporarily but ended up sitting idle for 4-5 years.
So far l've oiled the bores and rotated the crank by hand to ensure the engine is still free moving.
Cranked without ingition to get oil pressure up.
I've pulled out the fuel tank, flushed, stripped, cleaned, treated and recoated it.
Replaced the fuel pump. Original died first attempt at moving fuel. Fuel had evaporated from lines and formed mucky tar sludge.
    Blown out fuel lines.

This has me as far as getting fuel to maybe one cylinder some of the time.

Next though is to replace both fuel filters (pre and post pump) and also pull out the injectors to have them cleaned.

Is there anything else I've missed?

Maybe replacing the old oil filter with a new primed one, fresh sump full of 20/50, and slosh some oil over the rocker gear/cams if accessable.
if you were keen you could pressurise the oil system prior to cranking and check the pickup is clear, but sounds like its bit after the fact.
p.s hopefully it hasnt dried out to much after that long

It turns over with no problem?

you have wound it on the starter to bring up the oil.....

what are you waiting for? get it going.

keep and eye on your coolant and oil seals.

Sounds like you have ticked all the boxes to me mate.

Your fuel supply problems are most likely the injectors are stuck after sitting around. Its a common problem. I believe the back yard fix is a quick 12volt supply to each injector to crack it open. Might wanna check that first tho.

I once started an stored engine on 2 stroke (only because it was the only fuel I had in a can). I thought the oil in the cylinder would be a good thing. Perhaps with stuck/sticking injectors that could be good too?

    Hemi,

The injectors gum shut and the standard injector pulse doesn't have enough juice to crack them open.

I cranked my 1j over with the igniter unpluged to get oil pressure up and it could not do it. Had to start her up and ran it for about 10 sec with the oil light on, then killed it and restarted and then only the lite went off. Iv got a surge tank on it and there is more lenth on the pipes as to what the standard set up is. Had to stick a oneway valve in the line to stop flow back to the surge tank. Had my motor running on the floor about 3 months ago so in my case I was not to worryed about oil lining the bearings. Would say that throwing a can of oil over your cams is not going to make much of a diffrence because it has to be pumped thru your journels to get the bearings lined so would say crank it and run it.

Pull the injectors out today and gave the needles a poke to free them up and after lots of cursing trying to put everything back together again success!

Injectors were stuck and just needed to be manually freed.

    Thanks all.
