Default Alloy Wheel Repair - Can it be done?

Hi, I suspect some dunderclump at Beaurepaires rattle-gunned up my wheels after getting new tyres, because I did a routine tyre rotation (RL <-> RR cuz you know how single legger celicas always wear the RR tyre ) only to have a wheel almost "explode" on me after putting it back on. I only did it up by hand with a socket spanner so I'm certain it was fatigued when Beaurepaires put it back on with a rattle-gun (as these kinds of tyre-shops ALWAYS do ).. A day or two after doing the rotation I heard an almighty BANG while I was driving (nothing special, just cruising at 70km/h), and had some geriatric driver beep and wave at me (and not the kind of "Hey! I used to own one of those!" waves - more like a "Hey! Your car is on fire!" waves, haha), so I checked the car out to find this damage:

^ You can visibly see how the centrebore is out-of-round.

^ Here you can see the crack that has propagated from the over-stressed stud hole to the centrebore. This has happened on 3/4 studs, but this is the worst.

The rim has been warped on the hub face too, as it has a slight buckle as it rotates

My question is have any of you guys on here had any experience with this type of alloy wheel damage/repair? I rang Wheel Revolutions in Slack's Creek and he'd said he would look at it, but didn't sound too keen on the Idea.

Can it be fixed? Or should I turf the wheel and find a replacement? Anyone got one 14x7J 0 offset hotwire to part with?

PS: Yes, takai this was one of your hotwires

    Ta, JB

I would say they are dead
Welding in that area would be very dangerous with the weakening of the surrounding alloy, warping, etc.

Call a few wheel repair shops, but i doubt any of them will want to touch it

    Hi,

Unfortunately that seems the case, all the wheel repair shops I've rang up don't wanna hear about it, haha.. I did send a customer complaint to Beaurepaires so maybe that will eventuate into something, but I doubt it.

Anyone got a pair of 8JJx14s??

    Ta, JB
