Oh one other thing to note - Drivers can only do a maximum of 15 laps at a time, with a minimum of a 15 minute break between outings. This means it shouldn't be a car breaker, especially when you drive with regularity in mind, rather than racing!
Hi all
One of the regular hillclimbers from TCCA - Terry Baker - is pulling together a team for the Phillip Island 6 Hour.
I have bitten the bullet and decided I might as well do this one along with the Winton one, and these two events can be most of my motor racing for the year.
Entry fee is $1600 total, hopefully split between 6 drivers. He has 4 so far.
If you are interested get in contact with me and I will put you in contact with Terry. He needs to get the entry in pretty quickly (they are already open) to have any chance of being accepted.
I decided for the money, I will get heaps of time to run around Phillip Island, and its simply the most awesome circuit to drive on in the state, so it was worth the effort.
It will also be the kick in the pants I need to get the Charade's suspension, brakes and seat and harness put in![]()

...nice work........i have always vowed to do a 6Hr there cos as you say it is the best track in the state.......if my car doesn't shit itself in a major way this year I may look to do it next year.......certainly need to be fully prepared on a track like that though.......pretty much flat chat for the majority of the lap and some really heavy braking at points.....i'm sure you'll sort the Charade out good and proper for it though!![]()

.....15 laps sounds sensible........2 mins a lap is still half hour stints at a time so good way to break up the driving.

I will hold you to that for next year!!
They insist all cars have a harness too. Guess I better get a harness bar made or something. Hmm...
I was down to that one this year, but my son is getting married a week or two later and it just wasn't possible so I had to pull out,.
Many of J&A No Bull blokes did it last year and reckon it is a better event than the Winton one, I haven't done it so I can't compare. It could just be the awesome PI track - LOL

nostalgia is not what it used to be:
we had a great weekend... most of us busted out on our times so no staggering results, but we finished 31st out of the 50 teams competing which isn't bad, as I think I was the only one that had done a relay like this before.
phillip island is the most awesome circuit to drive, everyone should be chomping at the bit to get on there some time!
OK slightly more information... the Charade "Hand Bag Detomato" went bloody well. 3 seconds faster than I ever was in the Corolla
Here is some video from the weekend

As Big Trev's team mates suggest, it probably runs better than the Winton one. There is no chaos around scrutineering - the scrutineers come to you for at least the first two cars that are going out, and you get hourly reports on team position delivered to the garage. Can't remember seeing that at Winton, though I know they do run the timing screens in the garage if you have a TV running.
Would recommend this event to any one who does the 6 hour at Winton!

..fair 'nuf......hey I'd staple a tail to the back of my Celica if it meant cheaper entry fees!.........oh and I will have to do this event next year.......i spend enough time at PI watching other peoples cars go round that I should get out there myself.

We couldn't do it this year for a couple of reasons, but we intend to have a go next year.
