    Default Stud patterns

hey guys been doing a few searches on here and the old forums and other sites and i could not find toyota stud patterns.

what i wanted to do was create a thread that created a list of all toyota stud patterns and the best offset to be used.

like early celicas and sprintahs use the 114.3x4 stud pattern but i am unsure of the best offset that is to be used.

this could be really good reference to people who are buying wheels from stores, ebay or even group buys that allow you to order your wheels with what ever offset your require.

this could be very useful to myself who has a 23 and looking for a set of wheels.

early KE10 and KE20 have 4x110mm, later KE20 (some?) have 4x114.3.. most later than that have 4x114.3 until FWD.

instead of offset, it might be worthwhile to compile a list of rim diameter and rim backspace at which the rim hits the strut.
tyre bulge can vary from none to a couple of cm, and rim offset can be calculated from width and backspace...
width is also important for guard clearance...

i was about to say offset is better as you can calculate backspace from it, but if you specify rim width and backspace, then you don't need to explain the offset convention.

i'll do some measuring, and maybeye post up a little guide how to measure backspace for the noobs.

    ra23/28 afaik is 4 x 114.3 on a 5" wide rim std with +32 offset.

some1 told me this once or I found a spec sheet.

im running 13x7 at -10 offset with no issues... i have flares but rims are flush with guards.

Backspace is hard to measure unless rim is stripped, along with an accurate width. Offset can be measured much easier with tyre still on rim.
Pull the wheel off and lay it face up on flat ground.
Measure from ground to the hub mounting face (call this A), then flip over and do the same (call this B, make sure this is still to the same mounting face). Add A and B together and divide in half (call this C). The difference between C and A is your offset, If A is more than C the offset is positive if less its negative. You need to be pretty accurate with your measuring though.

I've run 15x7 +25 on the front of my RA60, they cleard, but where close. im now running 15.8.5 -15ish (maybe lower) but have flared guards. Rears have run 16x9 +25 before, scrubbed very slighty on very hard cornering with a full car pretty much on bump stops, but werent that close to the guards.

that is very true.. however, given that different rims have different thickness at the bead depending on design, i guess i meant "distance between hub mounting face and strut for different rim diameters" as opposed to technical backspace...
so i suppose offset, combined with a nominal bead/tyre bulge width is as close as you can get to a nominal measurement?

on the offset topic - XT130 struts can run a greater offset rim than RA40 struts.

    they can run as far as a 15" x 7" x 40 offset....with about 5mm tyre bulge

I would probably go with offset and tyre size as generally speaking the tyre should be wider than the rim, except for massive dorifto style stretching.
For example, my KE70 runs 15x6.5" rims with P20 offset with 205/50 15's. I can go to 7 or even 8 inch rims with same offset and the tyres will still clear. However if I get a 5 inch rim with P35 offset the rim will clear but my 205/50 tyre won't.

hmm, my tyre sidewalls are exactly in line with the edge of the rim... 215/45/17 RE-01R on 17x7.5, aint no dorifto action goin on here
with tyre size, the bulge changes with rand and model,... but i spose this is all just a rough guide anyway
