Default got new rod today... wrong size grrr!

a week or so ago I was searching around for a rod for my gze which is the version with the coilpack and the oil squirters.. and I was told that, that version is the latest version of the gze. anyway i received my rod today and i looked and I thought.. hmm somethings not right, it feels a bit heaver and bulkier.

brought it home and yep.. it was more chunky than the ones I have, and I asked the wreckers to give me a rod from a 4agze witht he coil pack and oil squirters like mine but its somewhat different.

the rod on the left is the one i received and the rod on the right is the one from my gze.

so what is this from then? obviously this is a chunkier rod so I am wondering if I should spend the 300 bucks on an another 3.. so bloody expensive

dude, not sure what its from. but if its the same size (big end, small end and length)......
    GET THEM.

they sure look like they would be stronger. maybe they are aftermarket rods that were fitted to that engine. that one looks pretty chunky, thats for sure. (compared to the standard one)

less rotating weight = higher power output and more efficiency
    in stock applications.....

I think this has been covered before.

AE92 4As have larger rods than AE101 4As. They are slightly stronger, and heavier, but unless you plan to see the fun side of 9000rpm often then both will be strong enough.

Have a read around, there have been many discussions on the changes of 4A internals.

Yeah as long as the big end and shit is the same i don't see a problem, that chunky one looks like it would be alot tougher for performance applications.

so they are the ones you are using hey.

if im not mistaken your rod appears the same as the big one the pic apart from a difference around the crank.

AE101lev rod is still std AE92 GZE as far as i no!
