Pm aeeightysix, he just put db rear end hb cables in like a week ago. He should be able to give you the heads up.

I just tried to fit the cables for disc rear end but i couldnt get it to work.
is there three parts to the handbrake cable? I noticed that the cable goes backwards first and then i cant figure out where it goes?
if anyone has some pics or something that would be sweet. Maybe i got the wrong sort of cables?

With OEM handbrake cables, each cable has two mounts. The mount towards the front remains the same, the mount towards the rear needs to be relocated. You will actually find the alternative mount is direct fit and I believe the AE86 ADM chassis has mounts for both drum and disc brake cables. Basically connect those two mounts to the cable and the cable will be in the right position. Note that Left and Right are different (different mounting points and one of them is slighty longer). Once the cable are in position, you need to connect it to the rear caliper. You will need a stud with hole, cotter pin and a brake line retainers.
2 x Handbrake Caliper Pin w/hole 90240-08040 ($6.10 both)
2 x Cotter Pin 95381-02020 ($2.40 both)
2 x Brake Line retainer 96991-10080 (check this one as I may have confused this for circular clip).
The caliper pin fits between the cable end and caliper bracket, the cotter pin fits in the caliper pin (bend this piece to prevent caliper pin). and the retainer locks the handbrake cable onto the caliper to prevent cable from moving around.
The other end should be simple, just clip both ends to the Y-link cable.
Factory Service Manual should help you alot. Gotta check if I have pics somewhere, might take awhile.
Here are cables ready to go in.
The two holes on the caliper are for mounting/fixing handbrakes.
This is one of the mounts that need to be relocated.

i got slightly different callipers to that.....the handbrake actuating lever has a different attatchment to it, but i still should be able to use it.
also its pretty difficult to get the cable in the rear.....where does it go?
over the lower trailing arm?
under the trailing arm?
the cable has to go backwards before it can go to the front of the car.....making it difficult to fit!

I had no problem with my installation. From what i remember my cables were the same length. I just through a bolt through each lever mount on the caliper (shown), then the lines go thru those mounts and up to the Y, mount in the trans tunnel. the cable to the h/b lever in the console is universal for J/ADM

bolts go thru these holes on the JDM cables. you can see the Y mount toward the top of the pic. my regards to thanhngo for pics
