I think getting a baffled sump with increased oil capacity would be a good investment....
I have a Morosso sump I'm plannign to fit to my 3T GTE, I think others have made their own mods...
Cheers,

I am currently weighing up the options of running a windage tray in a 3T TA22 I am building up for a few club motorsport events.
What I want to know is will a windage tray keep more oil in the sump, thus hopefully eliminating or decreasing oil starvation at higher revs / harder cornering?.
I know windage trays are there to prevent oil splashing against the crank / rods / bottom of the engine and causing resistance to the movement but will it also limit the flow away from the oil pickup sufficiently when taking the car around a track?.
Getting some fancy baffled sump would be the better option but if I can try the option for $100 without resorting to $300-$400 sumps I would be more inclined to go down that path.
Thanks![]()

A windage tray and a scraper are good ideas for race motors. both will help to keep oil in the sump and reduce any drag, roping or splashing on the crank. But they don't offer any oil 'control' as such. For this you'll need series of baffles and gates or ball-valves. These are the things that will keep oil at the pickup.
Rex also believes while you're at it you should also look at an external drain from both sides of the head back to the sump. Its a common problem that quite a lot of standard motors seem to have when doing continuous high RPM work (>6000rpm). Oil just cant drain away from the head fast enough.

...cheers Rex......seems like a windage tray is a 30% fix whilst in conjunction with a baffled sump etc it would be a 90% fix.......time to start sourcing some better sump options.
