untill you start to do big things to the motor the stock ECU will suffice, then u have many choices do u want piggyback or stand alone ? microtechs ? wolf 3d ?

im not sure bout coilovers i didnt bother with them to expensive, wat are your plans anyway ?

i guess i need to put something in to this thred.

i run the LTX10 microtech, with a great tune from SAS. 135kw@wheels on 5psi, this is with the ST185 motor and IC. I had a problem with the mix going to lean or rich. But with big plans ahead the LTX10 is tops. but yea stock ecu will surfice.

    coilovers:
this is a former sponsor of these forums, they are make your own coilover kits from your struts
    http://www.importbitz.com.au/koni.htm

this i found on ebay, do ur reseach as i've head that the ST185 fits to the ST162 but i might be wrong so ask around.

im planning to swap my old gen 1 3sge for the st185 s 3sgte
then hopefully do some boost, exhaust and front mount mods
i was just seeing how easy it was to get coilovers for the st 162 to improve the already great handling

by the end of all this it will be the ultimate sleeper (hopefully)

$900 for install, Not likely. It was $650 just to get the wiring done. I got my halfcut from QLD for $2200 delivered.
Shop around, if you can go and see the halfcut before buying it make sure that it has the Brakes and the pannels are in good condition, as you can sell some of them later. I made the mistake of not seeing it before i bought it. The brakes had been nicked and the pannels were busted.

Just Jap Auto is a place down here in adelaide that would do the install and wiring for 900
they specialise in toyotas so they know what they are doing.also a lot of the importers down here have photos on a website of there halfcuts in stock. i do wanna buy local so i can check it out first too.

i have been silent for too long

$900 for install and wiring, yeah i am with draza on this one, not really likely, the length of time it takes to do this swap they will be basically doing it for free for you. there is a bit of fab work that is needed, its not all straight bolt on. wiring is a shit of a job and can take a few days alone. otherthings have you thought about in the swap include gearbox, what are you gonna use? few options. also are you gonna freshen the motor while its out, doing seals belts etc, are you doing this or is the mechanic.

yes i agree with the boys ^ its not as simple as u may think, theres so many things that u may not consider and may wanan budget in for, headgasket ? turbo ? new seals ? wiring ? how handy are you with actual mechanic work ? its a fairly simple conversion as compared to many others but yeh 900 sounds aweful cheap, also if u can look at a haflcut and kick it ova and see wat it sounds like before u purchase would be good

I'm going to chip in and say I definitely wouldn't recommend Just Jap Auto. I seriously doubt that $900 would be a fixed price either. If you get it done for $900, expect a $900 job, and that means probably very poor workmanship, nothing checked etc etc.

$2400 for a ST185 3S-GTE isn't exactly the hottest price on the planet either - shop around in Adelaide and you can find them for less than that.

P.S. you can get a Wolf3D computer for 3S-GTEs - you may want to look into that for your engine management, as it's likely the second cheapest option (aside from finding a stock computer).

Also double check that your half cut comes with the computer. Sometimes you just get a cut loom (very VERY annoying).

where would you recommend the install to be done if just jap are dodgy.
what is a more realistic price for good quality work down here.
