    Default identifying ae101 gearbox

g'day, i bought a gze from a ae101 with a gearbox which i dont need. i suspect its a lsd box because its got a pinion where the driveshafts slot in, but i'd like to confirm it.

so, does it tell you on the box what model number it is? like e58 11c or whatever? if so, where abouts on the box does it say that?

also, what are these things worth?

    cheers.

it wasnt a half cut so i dont have the plate.

can anyone tell me the diameter of the non-lsd e58 shafts?

there are no markings on toyota boxes to tell them apart.

the only way to tell is whack some shafts in and spin them.

the diameter of the non-lsd shafts are the same as the lsd shafts, what differ in the shafts is the length of them

from what i've gathered from a search (so i dunno how right this is), the shafts are not interchangeable between lsd & non-lsd ?

i am pretty sure the shafts aren't interchange able because of the differant lengths, you can't put non-lsd one into an lsd box because they are too long to fit between the box and the hub, and can't put an lsd shaft into a non lsd box becuase they wont reach the hubs.

well that the reason i had found documented a few times, everyone says they aren't interchangable but not many say why.

sorry i don't no, maybe send a few email to importers asking their price, that'll give you a rough idea.

a non lsd one will probably be about $300 and lsd one will probably be anywhere up to $600 or so
