    Default celsior issues

hey.. follwoing the massive storms we had in WA, my car is running shite..

i was caught out on the way home and had to drive through several puddles/flooded areas where water was splashing well over my bonnet.. lets say driving through 40cm+ water..

    i have the following issues:

speedo no longer works- im pretty sure i can fix that one manually by removing the dash.

idle problem- this is the big one.. the car keeps idling up then cutting out and dropping back to low idle.. then again.. like its hunting for a sensor or something...

this is clear in neutral, but when in drive the idle is just way too high.. i cant tell you exactly what coz the tacho is also fucked (another dash problem) but i really have to step on the brake pedal to stop it from going forward hard.. id imaging the RPM would be around 2200.

as soon as i put it in neutral again, it hunts again..

i havent had a chance to pull any codes yet.. is it still T and E1 on these?? and has anyone got a list of codes??? i had a link a while back but cant find it.

also, suggestions on what it could be.. ISCV??? if so, where the fuck is it on the 1u.. (no i havent looked yet.. but i dont wanna start pulling plastic off without knowing where to look..

also, when i unplug the AFM the car idles fine... obviously it doest rev properly and stall out if you try.. but at idle its fine..

    so suggestions???

i dont wanna keep driving it like this coz i dont wanna cook the gearbox.. nor do i wanna look like a douche at the lights reving my engine..

    help please..

ISCV is right on the front of the inlet manifold.

Also the hunting would be caused by the revs being too high with the tps in idle.

Need to work out why the revs are going too high. Clamp the hose that comes off the ISCV and see if its being held open.

    hey, little update on this..

2 things.. firstly this problem is really beginning to piss me off.. stuck in traffic yesterday on the way home the temp went up hard, i pulled off the road but it still dumped its load..

didnt seize, but didnt wanna start for a while.. gonna do a TK test this arvo at my bro's place.. last thing i need is beeaichgee..

the other thing i noticed is when the car is cold.. it idles fine (but high).. as the car warms up it starts happening.... and the hotter the car gets the faster it happens..

also it as i drive it doesnt want to stay in gear.. down low is fine, but when you start to get going it jumps around between 3rd and 4th (od).. when i have my foot on the accelerator its in 4th, when i back off it drops down to 3rd.. as soon as i touch the throttle its back into 4th.. unless i plant it..

    any more help..

Well id start a t the point where water would most likely go - airbox, filter and MAF

remove from car, clean. In the case of the MAF, do not touch it with anything (unless theres something stuck in there), get some contact cleaner (isopropyl alcohol spray, must not leave any residue!) and spray the fuck out of it, then leave to dry. Also spray the connector and check no shit/water got in there

When you put it back on the car it may idle/drive fucked for a bit while it completely dries out inside, but after 5/10 mins you'll know if it worked

i have a spare one here if you want to test to make sure man.

just in case its an electrical problem as opposed to the valve itself.

Dude, I'd probably just clean the crap out of it first. It's a fairly simple device, and chances are it's just gunked up. It's probably gunked up in an open position, so crushing the hose is just reducing the air coming in.
