Default Anything to be concerned about when welding to block?

i have to weld a bracket on my block with it attached to motor

is there any thing to be concerned about apart from the obvious stuff like ECU battery etc.

What im getting at is the any chance of damaging engine bearings etc by passing a large electrical current through the motor diring welding?

the bracket bolts to your motor right, you arent trying to weld a bracket on to your motor?

if you clip the earth to the bracket/thing you are welding the bracket to it will be fine as current will only go between the earth clamp and the electrode. disconnect your battery/ecu still of course!

ha ha ha ha yeah the bracket bolts too the motor. its just that i need to weld it in the right spot so it needs to be done when it attached to motor

im only asking this because recently i was doing a bit of fab work to my trans tunnel and when leaning in the car ( wearing a t shirt ) i could feel the current going through my arm !!! this was well away from where the earth and the welding path.

this is what started me thinking about passing current through engine bearings with the little amount of clearence they have causing some form of marking / damage?

i wouldn't worry about it, but to be on the safe side just tack it on the motor then take it off to fully weld it.

disregard my last didn't read fully

if you bolt on the part that goes onto the block, and then put the other piece on, and connect the earth to that, you should be okay but yeah tack it then weld outside.. the heat into the engine block is bad
