Question 13T engine parts interchangeable in 2T?

I have a 2T-B engine installed in my TA22. planning to replace it with my 13T left at my dad's garage, but i heard that 2T engine is an ideal powerplant for 1/4 mile drag when custom modifications are done.

so im planning to retain my 2T engine installed, then do some race modifications. and planning to interchange some parts from the 13T, like pistons, crankshafts and etc.

has anyone done this modification before?.. thanks.

    Hi mate,
Installing the crank and pistons out of a 3T into a 2T block is a common conversion done by the 2TG twincam fanatics to obtain 1800cc's of engine displacement up from the original 1600cc's.
I believe the 13T is the 1800cc 3TC in some sort of pollution guise. The parts therefore are interchangeable so far as pistons and crankshaft as a set can be installed from one engine to the other as the only difference between the 2T and 3T is the longer stroke of the 3Tand shorter piston gudgeon pin height, hence why crank and pistons change over as a set. The rods are same length so either set will fit.

Small caution here is that I have also read that the 13T engine may have a different combustion chamber shape to the 2T's hemispherical chamber so the pistons will need to be checked carefully for fitment. You may need to grind the 2T block a small amount to clear the longer 13T crank also.

    Cheers,
    Jason

NICE!.. thanks bro. that was a bunch of 2T/3T info's.

so the only possible thing to do is a 3T piston and crankshaft interchange for my 2T.

saw your turboed 3T. looks like im starting to have second thoughts of having mine turboed too

    Hi there,
The carby vs EFI for turbo duties evokes much debate!
I have successfully done the carby turbo with a holley for a daily driver and this guy http://http://www.toymods.org.au/for...ad.php?t=45061 has done blow through webber carby. There are plenty of others who have gone EFI and recon it can be done real cheap and easy with a little know how.

You can see what I did for mine, and I'll happily provide any further details if you require!

Hopefully someone else on here who has done cheap EFI turbo conversion can chime in with a link or info!

    Cheers,
    Jason

The 2t and 3tc rods are same length. 3tc has longer stroke crank than 2t. 3tc pistons have shorter pin height due to longer crank stroke. 2t and 3tc blocks are interchangeable. So the short answer is no the combo you ask about will not be successful as the piston tops will be a long way down the bore - further down than even I'll run em!

The cranks and pistons must be kept together as sets while the rods and blocks are interchangeable.

Those 89mm pistons you refer to of course will swing happily in a 2t block with your pick of rods and a 3tc crank for nearly 2000cc's of T series goodness.

You can buy aftermarked forgies etc specificlly to suit the 2t if you have a bent on keeping the 2t crank.

    Cheers,
    Jason
