Default Leakage in Cyclinder 2 and 3 HELP!!!

    Hey Guys,

My car was tuned not to long ago, but it seemed to be running really rich. I took it for a drive the other night and the MR2 behind be said i was blowing yellow flames from the exhaust.

About 1hr into the cruise, i lost all boost, so i pulled over and checked all piping and it was all fine.

Took it to a mechanic the next day, he ran a compression test and it was fine, then did a leakage test, and cyc 2 and 3 were leaking.

    What are the possible causes?

It has forged bottom end, arp studs throughout, and cometic hg... and its a 3SGTE

If cylinder 2 and 3 were leaking you would think it will show up on the compression test but it depends on how bad it is leaking
When they did the test they should of checked to see where it was leaking from eg air coming out from dip stick tube = rings, exhaust and intake = valves.
From flames coming out the exhaust i would be looking at exhaust valves burt or not sealing properly

also another thing did they do the leakage test correctly, I have seen guys do the test when the cylinder wasnt on compression and a valve was open giving you an incorrect reading

he said that he did the leakage test, and he said that he pressurissed the cyclinders to 100psi, i think he said, and when he did it on cyclinder 2 and 3, the temps went really high, where when he did 1 and 4 the temps were fine

Realy does not matter what it is. Head has gotta come off. No point ins wasting time at guessing what it could be

Define leaking. Is it a slow leak eg They left compression in the chamber for 30min ?
Possibly burnt valves due to piss poor tune being too rich or its blown a head gasket
I hope you didn't visit signature *performance

You in SA or qld.......... i thought you were in qld/ipswich

That's not how a leakdown tester works.

Sounds like the head gasket might have blown between Cylinder 2 & 3, but could be many other things.

When you do a leakdown test you can actually pick where it is leaking to (cooling system, crankcase, inlet manifold, exhaust manifold) by listening to where the leaking pressure is going. Guessing your mechanic didn't do this.

Yeah but even still the compression shouldnt have been fine if it was leaking bad enough to make a difference driving.. A slow leak will affect you but not to the degree where you have to pull over and everything is playing up. Man honestly find yourself another mechanic and find out exactly where it is leaking from and get your compression rechecked man.

If the compression is fine or even if it wasn't, a lack of boost problem isn't really an engine problem at all, but the gauge, the turbo/super charger & all of its stuff, not the engine..
