    Default 2010 Membership Registration/Renewal Forms

    Gday,

This won't affect me personally as my renewal form gets mailed out, but I have noted that in the Membership tab, the forms are yet to be updated. For the benefit of prospective new members, is there an ETA on the 2010 membership forms??
    Cheers, Owen

can you still accept mailed in forms with accompanying money orders?

didnt realise it had gone electronic registration/payment (which is excellent) so i have already got the money order ready to go.

    thanks

Since you can tie a bank account to a Paypal account these days, what's the drama?

    Hiro,

The software that created the online forms is linked to paypal and ties the payment to the form for us. We get an emailed confirmation of payment and a digital copy of the completed form that we can print out and file. As you know Kirsty does the membership stuff and gets everything she needs arrive in her email.

We are already getting spam forms that obviously dont have a payment component so matching things up is not as straight forward as you may think.

If we accepted direct deposits things get more complicated, Only River as treasurer has access to the bank accounts and he would have to manually go through and work out who has and has not paid. It adds a delay and a complication to a process we are trying to streamline. As such its not going to happen.

It may sound like a cop out but anything that requires multiple board members to work together generally only happens at the board meetings as we are all pretty busy so just dont get a chance otherwise.

I was referring to the other side of things, that people were complaining that direct deposit isn't available yet you can tie a bank account to PayPal, and thus make payments through Paypal without needing a credit card (whereas in the past you needed a credit card-type thingy to use Paypal).

Now, Paypal can essentially be a direct deposit-style facility, except you log into Paypal instead of your bank and put in the Paypal details of the receiver rather than their bank account details.

    Hiro,

Thanks for pointing that out. Your right, you no longer need a credit card to use paypal. Anyone with a bank account can use it and its free to join.

How much in fees does PayPal ask for in this instance?? I know they sting enough when I use it through Flea-bay that I offer a discount on items when people don't use it. Mind you, the fee for using a money order is similarly abhorrent. [/RANT]

My membership ends at the end of the month can I still take advantage of the $40 renewal when it runs out? I just don't have the money right now to spend on renewal.
