    Default 1jz corona project groundwork

hey guys good to be back,

after a few years messing with new cars i want to build an old school toyota
i was originally thinking a 70-71 crown and putting a 1uz in but i have a feeling thats not legally possible and finding a 70-71 crown in sydney seems a bit of a challenge might surface later as a lowrider project.
my next idea is a 76 corona with a 1jz running mx83 front struts with ba rotors and skyline calipers and a hilux diff in the back possibly setup to run disc's as a tribute to my first car.

Anyone have any advice on this is greatly encouraged i think ive got most of the setup pegged but any input would be great.

not sure if ill even get going this year at this point im getting married in december also starting a new business which is cool my missus is sorta encouraging me which is a good sign she knows i love my cars lol!

Luckily it's a pretty common conversion so it's been covered before. Honestly I'd want some bigger brakes all around (you will basically need discs in the rear).
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

Ive been looking havent seen any 76's yet if you've got any links that'd be great.
I figured the falcon/skyline combo for the front would be the ticket.
as for the rear id say it'll be a day at pick n payless checking what fits what i was thinking mx 83 rear brakes but i wont know untill i see it in the flesh ill check it out when i get my licence back lol!

Hey have a read of this.

Plus are you talking about a rt104 or a mark 2 corona? I know the rt104 doesn't have struts and i don't think mark 2 do either.

ahhh i know that one! i used to pass you most days i had a red corolla sportivo you lived right at the top of that hill on sherbrook or something.
i was actually thinking the rt104 something like this one
i like the mark 2's that silver one in the for sale section is very sexy id buy it but i enjoy the build as much has i enjoy the driving, seems like a waste pulling the rb out of that and putting in a 1j.

i gotta say seeing all these old toyota's and what some of the guys have done is a huge sensory overload

They are a wishbone front end. The only way to get 5 stud on them is MS65 Crown hubs. They don't have massive engine bays and have leaf rear ends. The next generation corona (XT130 or RT132) are strut front and coil spring rear and are a better candidate for what you are planning, well if you want any kind of real performance. The MX83 struts will go into them, but you will have big positive camber issues.
