Wow that is weird. Looks similar to my abv but that screw type adjuster in the to is wickity whack
Well pictures explain it all, very curious to know what it does exactly... I'm tempted to pull it apart and look inside, at a guess i think its mechanical adjustment for the abv, but im not certain, the top has no traces to the original diaphram and im just all out confused really. Came on my ae101 levin GTZ halfcut that came straight from japan with a cusco crank pulley and and cusco PS "powerball" headers. Is this also another cusco part offered to these engines?
any info would be greatly appreciated.

i had one on my gze they do a good job.
What's a ABV?
basicaly a pressure regulator
Yeah, it is a Cusco abv. They apparently replaced the top portion of an oem abv with their own, which has an adjustor bolt on it. They allow you to run larger crank pulleys, and/or smaller sc pullies without having to resort to the abv mod to make use of the higher boost.
And yes, they are pretty rare. try googling them and you still get next to no hits on them. I finally found one on Yahoo Japan, and had to pay dearly for it, considering the shipping and handling costs.
I'm really looking forward to using it. From what I have seen posted, although not confirmed yet, they supposedly allow for up to about 15 psi of boost, which is probably about max that you would ever see on a 4agze that is still set up to use one of these.
Good score!
So long and thanks for all the fish!

proper name is AIR BYPASS VALVE, and it comprises two functions
1) boost control
2) decreases pumping losses when the supercharger is disengaged as it allows the air to bypass the supercharger, thus improving cruise economy by some 15% according to some articles i've read
