that head looks different to other 4a heads ive seen.
it has the oil port and dizzy cam cap on your right hand side and a funky center part where the plugs go.
and i think the breather (head/block) port is normaly squarer.

either way, yes that hole goes down into the block but the nut would have landed on the splash tray in the sump.
have you got a telescopic magnet stick ?

i dont know what torque specs are for the cam caps, i just tighten them up to what i think is right
i dont have a funny or cool signature.

+1 for telescopic magnet..one of the most usefull tools you will ever buy

cam cap torque is generally only about 20-30ft/lb...but just do it with a spanner/ratchet..if you try torque with a torque wrench you'll snap the bolts. believe me!

What the hell is that? It also seems to be missing the distributor mounting point ... ? hard to see though.

That looks like an **FE type head, from the distributor mount on the end of the exhaust cam. It's not a 4AGE head, that's for sure.

    That's all I can help.

that is an "S" head... can't see enough to see which "S" head... but I have a 2nd gen 3SGTE head in my shop now and it looks just like that...........

I'm not sure what the torque specs are....... but I know they are in the factory manuals.... and there is a link to said manuals in toy mods... Don't guess... go to the source.
