Default 74 Celica Spedo Cable Replacement

    hey all,
new to the forum and thinking about getting my first celica . just wondering how hard it is taking the dash cluster out on a 74 ta22? I know the 80s celicas clusters came out in a single piece with the removal of a few screws.

just want to know whats involved with replacing the speedo cable on 1 of these cars and a possible short guide on the procedure.

    Cheers

Its not the easiest job, but of course it can be done.
Unscrewing the cable from the back of the cluster is normally the hardest bit.
... im sure someone else can elaborate more as i cant remember all the details.

Just make sure you undo all the heater controls as well, and not just the knobs on the front panel. The heater control cables need to be unhooked or released off the heater unit as they are firmly fixed to the back of the dash panel.

So basically make sure all the screws are taken out and the heater control cables are unhooked. Then it should be easy sailing.
Where does the cable go once it come out of the dash?

Cable goes through the firewall down to the driver's side of the gearbox. It may be advisable to practice contortionism before attempting changing a ta22 speedo cable.
