Default Legalities for Catalytic Converter brands

I drive a st184 celica and i've decided to finally upgrade the exhaust system with a 2.25" exhaust and my hurricane 4-2-1 extractors.

I've got a few questions regarding Catalytic Converter brands.
I wanted to install one of these:
    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Hi-Flow-2-25-...#ht_1570wt_960

These catalytic converters are Euro2 Approved but I get worried if these aren't ADR approved.
I can get a brand new 2.25" stocky for $100. Would you say its worth the extra mula on my 5sfe? (I do love it and if it would be sorta noticeable i'd happily put the money towards it)
    Any suggestions?

stock 2.25" cat for $100 vs an aftermarket probably non-effective cat for $170?
    hmm, hard choice

what are the size of the cores?
are the aftermarket ones single core, or twin cores (in series) so they actually work?

there is not usually that much difference in the size of the cores themselves..

    ST184 = 5s-fe?

you';re not exactly going to be pushing huge numbers with that baby anyway (no offence), so the stock one is probably a great option

To be honest my knowledge on the cores are not too good.

Its a 5SFE thats right Drav,

I've had a st162 with a 3sgte and a few diff 4ages so its a bit of a downgrade from what i'm used to, and I know that throwing too much at a 5sfe isn't gonna get far but I thought it would be a good idea to at least do a 2.25" system. The 5sfe runs a cat right under the headers so I decided to put the cat further down on the piping.

I'll save some money in this option too for better things

Thanks for all that had a very helpful opinion (everyone did )

If you get a standard (not highflow) cat, it will muchly outperform the undoubtedly carboned up factory one.
You have to realise that 99% of cat cores are exactly the same within the same brand, it's only the ends that differ.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

Yeah that is very true I didn't think of that "the random hero".

The car has 198k on the clock

I'm hoping the extractors will release a bit more drive-ability out of the highly economic 5sfe motor lol

wa5 - Yea it was quite cheap, got a good deal through a friend
