Default Turbocharging that 4AGZE Trueno Levin GTZ FWD

    Hello Toymoders,

Basically I am on a budget turbocharging my 4agze.
Currently it has a smaller pulley on the superchager and I am bored of it
I am collecting all the neccessaries parts for the 4agte. My budget is under $1500!

My car is a 1989 Levin GTZ. earlier 4agze with AFM and coilpacks!
It already have ARC top mount, 2.5" exhaust, stock ecu!
My goal is to adapt either Garrett T2, T25 or T28 turbo and run low boost (10-12psi max).
hoping for 130kw at the wheel.
But my main concern is the exhaust manifold, not sure which one.

    ebay they have this

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/HIGH-FLOW-TUR...34167702684235

It is for AE86, RWD 4age. Will this manifold fit my application?
my is FWD and I want to keep powersteering and aircon.

Is there anythings else I should be looking into when turbocharging a 4agze?
I am looking for buy a 100kw inlet manifold for easier intercooler piping.

    thanks,

Won't fit. If you find a manifold to fit an AW11 or most other FWD Corolla's, it should be pretty damn close to fitting. You might need to go half-radiator like the Honduh boys run to get some extra room.
Honestly, don't waste your money on dodgy eBay manifolds like those. Give it six months and it will be broken, if not on the first dyno run.
Save a little bit more and get a proper manifold made up ($500-$800 from most fabrication places) otherwise you will end up paying a whole lot more once you start breaking manifolds.
I believe one of the Subie turbo's is MUCH better matched to the 4AGE than a T* turbo, couldn't tell you for the life of me what model though.
The above opinion is just that - my opinion. It is not shared by any business that I am currently or have previously been involved with, nor any of their employee's.

Please dont get one of those.

look up rex kelway and ask him nicely to build you a fwd version of his rwd manifolds.

    AJPS can help too.

what about this manifold I want to buy?

It's still not ideal, and you will have to relocate your radiator and condensor.

not to mention it's not the best design gah....

i'm not going suggest you do it properly now, and just get a proper steam pipe one made with a proper collector etc.. with a lifetime warrenty

if your on a budget at the moment, and want something that will do the job (for an undertermind amount of time)

    try those NZ guys..

That is just another piece of Taiwan-bay rubbish, regardless of what it says. Manifold won't last longer than the first dyno run.
Don't be a cheap bastard, get a proper manifold made from steam pipe to begin with.

the subie turbo's ppl are talking about at TF035 (from GT forester) and TD04L (from wrx's)

both are steel wheeled, oil/water cooled turbos, and 100% identically interchangeable to eachother..

the TF is not really smaller... but the wheels are a bit different to give better low end response/power..

both have been proven to see over 200-220hp at the wheels on 4EFTE starlets.. on about 1 bar..

they are usually pretty good for wear and tear as they sit about 53m from the exhaust ports in subaru's.. (slight exageration) so don't be scared of one that has done 100' km's... it will prolly be like brand new still..

Log style manifolds make the flow-fairies and baby Jesus cry.

i know.. but you can only tell these people so many times.. all they see is the $ value.. a manifold is a manifold isn't it??

well no.. couldn't be the furthurest from the truth... you want a real manifold made with the last 3 inches to the flange being a proper tapered spliced collector...

don't get me wrong 'log' style manifolds are fine... but they will always be just a log manifold..

    Parts collected so far.
    - manifold (thanks 1gt48u)
    - R32 T3 turbo
    - intercooler
    - 4age inlet manifold

So far I got almost everything except bits and pieces like fittings and oil lines.

My next quesiton is very specific regarding to TURBO OIL FEED line.
I am thinking of using one of the port for the gauge from oil cooler sandwich plate? is that ok to use?
I was told to "T peice" the oil pressure sensor just to left of the oil filter.
If anyone has done it before point me in the right direction? where is the best place for oil feed?
and if you could give me the size? So I could just go to Pirtek or Repco and order it. That would be great thanks!
Also where to tap in for water to the turbo.

    thanks

T piece the pressure sensor, remove the sensor and check the thread yourself. Might want to run a small inline oil filter as I'm not 100% sure the oil will be filtered at that spot. Last time I did a turbo conversion I grabbed water from one of the heater hoses going into the dash.
