    Default rear wiper loco

    G'day

I've a rt142 wagon. I replaced the tailgate a while back mainly because of rust and to a lesser extent the rear wiper not working. When I replaced the tailgate with a rust free version I found the rear wiper still didn't work. Deduction eventually told me the switch in the console for the wiper and washer was probably the culprit. It's taken a while but I got another switch for it yesterday and all's well, sort of. Problem now is the wiper works arse about, i.e. where once when you turned it off it would come to rest at the bottom of the tailgate window, it now stops at about 1 o'clock, so to speak.

How I see it is the motor that runs the wiper can only go in the one way and that's the way it's in. It's like the motor is rotating the wrong way for some reason.

    Any ideas ???????

    Any help appreciated.

i did this by accident for the front wiper once.

Find the rear wiper motor & it should have a large cansister on it housing the motor itself & the magnets.
It's usually secured by 2 screws/bolts to the mechanism.

Becuase they are opposite, it can be put on the wrong way.

The fix is to undo the screws.
DO NOT REMOVE THE MAGNET PART.
all you need to do is turn it half way round so that the screw holes line up with the other one.
    Reinstall screws.

Can't say this will be the exact fix to your problem, but it's a free one, and can be put back again if it doesn't work.

Thanks for that reply Steve. Appreciated. I checked that out but there's really no way this wiper motor is wrong in any way. After I checked that out and decided it can't possibly be wrong, I rang the local auto electrician who tells me that's the way it is. He say's many rear wipers stop in that position i.e. 1 o'clock or thereabouts. It's been that long since the wiper worked that I'd forgotten where it stopped, but, I'd have bet my last dollar it didn't stop where it's stopping now. The tailgate and wiper motor I have now is off an st141 and I've an rt142. Maybe they have different stopping positions. Anyway the auto elec says all is good so that'll do me.

    Thanks again.
