    Talking defunct links

Sorry if i am posting in wrong section first of all

I am slowly wading through the life of a tractor engine section as I have started the process of restoring my ra23.
There is an absolute abundance of great info there and for that I am extremely grateful
    BUT
There are also so many deleted photo's which would have made my job so much easier to do with pictures of parts and fitment . Is there any way we as a group can start to upload our pictures to this site rather than links to photobucket and the like so this valuable information is not lost to the next generation of toymods builders and fans

with great respect and kudos to those who run this site michael poson AKA machschnell

Hosting the images externally is a much better practice as it saves on hard disk space required for the fourms.

Toymods would be paying an extreme amount per month in extra hosting costs that would come from everyone uploading their pics to the Toymods server.

then is there anyway we can save the pictures that were posted rather than lose them when ppl forget and wipe pictures out of there photobucket accounts ?

like i said its just a shame when you find a post with pictures of a particular item you needed to see only to find the picture gone . It a great loss to us all as a resource tool

I understand the problems in doing this , maybe someone can set up an account to store these on photobucket or something so when an individual drops his photobucket account they are still avail able thru another site ?. pain in the ass i know but it would be worth it to alot of ppl.
Surely there is a way around it somehow that is not uber expencive

You can load photos onto teh forum now but this capability has only been available in the last version of the forums. A lot of the older posts like whn the Tractor engine thread was started never had that capability. All photos were hosted then.

The costs of running the forum are quite high already and the club covers this with fund raising and sponsorship (banner ads). For us to have everyones photos uploaded it would cripple the server performance and cost a huge amount more. It would be fantastic to be able to offer this but unfortunately it isn't an option.

My advice is to contact the people who made the original post and ask them to re-post or just email you the photos. Point them to the actual post too as it will give them a timeframe to find the photos on their computers.

It's a shame when this info gets lost but thats the medium we are working with. The alternative is to buy books and magazines.
