I didn't think you could -ve rep (in one hit) as much as you can +ve rep. 'Cos you can +ve rep 6 or 7 points doesn't mean you can -ve rep that amount - or so I beleive.

The FAQ lists 40 rep as the bump point and it will go back to working that way in the not too distant future since we're getting plenty of people with bigger rep powers.
When you have been in the higher group then your rep falls below the bump point you no longer have the privilleges that you did in the other group. This means you can't post new threads in for sale etc. The avatar thing is a bit of an anomally the thing that can be turned on and off on a per group basis is "Can upload a custom avatar" rather than can have a custom avatar. This means you can't upload a new avatar but you will keep the one you had.

rep power is decided on what level you are on. i think it is explained in FAQ
but if your a grease monkey u have XX amount
and it goes up.
