Interesting project. If your not running a brake booster you can actually get rid of the whole lot. Unbolt the pipes under the throttles and then block whatever is left.
If you don't mind me asking why will space be tight under the throttles?
Hi All,
I have been having a search around and not dug up any info (might be my poor searching) I am building a locost clubman (lotus 7 clone) and am using a 20V Silvertop 4AGE. The car will be race track only and custom airbox/trumpets. I have the stock ECU plus I also have an early Autronic brain in the shed so either could be used.
I would like to clean up all the piping (vacuum etc) around the inlet throttle bodies as it is going to get quite tight for space in the engine bay and there is an inordinate number of them and am wondering what I can delete and still have the engine run fine.
Cheers
Craig
here is a pic of where I have got from a bare build table in 1 month

Hi Sam,
Thanks for the reply. I want to run a chassis tube from where the engine hook is sitting on that picture to meet up with the front suspension mount to give some stiffness to the engine bay and also that is where the steering column has to run
Cheers

ah interesting, triangulation there would be really benificial
why not include the engine as part of the structure... like a formula atlantic would be

oldeskewltoy, now that is interesting I hadn't even thought of that. Is there any chance you have any pics floating around of where on the engine they tied the chassis in? I don't have any hard data on how much flex there will be in the chassis, not sure if it will cause any distortion issues with the block?

wouldn't that induce metal fatigue? particularly seeing that it's made from RHS instead of round
I would think so even if round but could use polyurethane mounts which while not totally rigid would quite possibly improve the area that is difficult to otherwise make as stiff as the rest of the chassis
