    Default 4agte with no TVIS/problems

Hey guys ive got a 4agte that i am concerned about if there is any flow issues with the inlet manifold/head..

When i did the conversion 2 years ago , i removed the TVIS plate and slapped on the TVIS inlet manifold straight onto my bigport 4agze with gaskets and plenty of silicone glue. I did this not knowing if you needed it or not.

Now the problem is i am fully setup now for the motor to make power. It makes 140kw on 13psi and 147kw on 16psi, boost holds 16psi then drops to 15psi at higher revs.

The motor isnt making any power, even with more boost added, Tuner has suggested there is a flow issue causing motor to not flow the boost added.

So i am thinking its either my brand new I/C from ebay or my inlet manifold is not flowing like it should/leaking as it doesnt have a spacer/TVIS plate "gutted". Maybe causing leaks out of the valleys at High RPM with boost increments?

    Engine specs:

    ae92 bigport DLI 8.1:0
    Ems stinger 4424 v4
    GT28rs disco potato brand new
    300x280x60 intercooler with 2" piping
    3" exhaust , hiflow cat
    bigport cams
TVIS inlet bolted directly on head no TVIS plate/spacer
    No boost leaks
motor been rebuilt recently 30k ish

Just after some ideas on what could be causing power issues and if i should gut the TVIS plate and fit it.

    Thanks Reece

Im using a bigport head with my new motor, i got a plate laser cut to match the ports, and basically replaced the tvis plate with that. I came to the conclusion that there is not really enough material to seal the manifold without the plate, so i did that.

have you checked for leaks? thats pretty much what im getting at.

If it was leaking enough to limit power the way it is it would be a leak even deaf Freddy could hear under full load on the dyno.

The potential leak from not running a spacer is a definite possibility but it will be a relatively small leak at worst, not a big power limiting leak.

A 4AGTE I will be tuning soon has been built without the TVIS spacer, I'll let you know if it has any issues. I'm not anticipating any.

Another thing just sprung to mind, I'll have to check another 4AGTE that I have worked on as I'm pretty sure it ran no spacer and hasn't done for years and it makes an easy 180rwkw or so on every dyno it runs on. Big port RWD manifold on a bigport ZE head.

As I mentioned in PM, mine runs a laser cut spacer.

I can get one cut for you... or maybe you should just get a hold of a t-vis plate, remove the butterfly's, get the holes plug welded and use that.

    just a thought

Also to add to the t-vis plate here are smoe pictures of a "ported" t-vis plate

Thanks Guys , I am only trying to limit the possibilities of why the motor isn't making anymore power with boost increments after 13psi.

i welded up my tvis manifold and used it without the tvis plate, all good so far.
if its going to leak around the manifold to head, you will see a fuel stain around the leak.

How is that possible when the fuel is injected post-manifold?

From the cold-start injector perhaps? It resides in the intake plenum on NA models...

they call it "air pressure" and finding the easiest way out.

car still made 270 odd hp like this and the engine was worn and blown up a few times haha.
