Plenum design idea

Justin, how thick would the baseplate need to be for the router idea to work ya reckon?

It should work on any thickness (within reason) and you can just clamp some MDF to the plate if needs be.

Regardless i'd try and use a sturdy 10 or 12mm plate anyways.

I'm aiming to go to Pick N Payless this weekend as I need some stuff.
I'll have a scout around, but I doubt there'll be anything there that new.
I do know of another wrecker at Yennora that usually does newer stuff, and I'm also aiming to go there on the weekend.

BTW, not quite sure how this would work, but have you thought about the reverse idea to an exhaust manifold? ie use 90 degree bend pipe the same size as the holes & somehow merge them together into a forward facing manifold.
bit out of left field.

What's the clearance issue for you? I thought the manifold followed the shape of the head fairly well due to the tilt on the engine.

Had a swing by pick-a-part this arvo and there was 2 V6 Hondas there, but they were very different to the one pictured above. Don't think they were useable.

That picture name reference's a VQ35 which is a Nissan with a V6 engine.

However a quick google image search turns up a world full of options for these engines.

I wonder if the Nissan manifold is adaptable to the MZ engine?

i know it is for nissan, but if you have limited height, but can put in a 90deg turn for the bellmouths, then you can spread the plenum sideways (in two halves) like the cosworth one = easier to bolt on maybe, and easier to get volume perhaps, with no trumpet/plenum clearance hassles...

How hard would it be to fit twin throttle bodies to that Honda manifold and plate up the "back"?

Im actually thinking oldcorollas may be on the money.. nissan style, 90 deg turn on runners and 2x plenums on each side..

means more clearance as the plenums can sit over the valve covers.. can get to bolts easy..

so this is going to mean long runners.. as the runners are going to be quite long, does this mean smaller plenum?
