    Default What tool to use?

    Hey Guys

So im in the process of replacing my ct12a's and i wondering what tool i needed to remove the oil flange and turbo to exhaust manifold studs.

They are 6 sided (not star shaped torx)

    Cheers

    Matt

For some reason theseguys call it a 'star socket' rather then Torx.

'I've scrapped better.' John stated when asked about the car by the guy with the silver tipped cowboy boots!

    Fail.
Posidrive is a derivative of Philips. I've never seen a socket for that, its just a screwdriver bit.

    He really meant polydrive.

Why not just put a second nut on, lock them together and wind it out like that? Every time I try to wind studs out using the bits on the end they strip on me

I used my two nuts to undo all my turbo studs. Worked perfectly and cost me precisely $0.

I was making a joke, but forgot to make it clear at the end that i actually did use the trick Dale mentioned. Tighten two nuts against each other and use them to undo the studs.

roller type stud extractor will also do the trick.

or a six pointed hex socket will have nowhere to go. worth a try.
