Was just thinking this morning how its only a week away and probably should get some details organised!
Ah, Dan, while i remember, as to someone getting some video for you, i've asked a few people and there'll be people around but can't guarantee someone will be able to do too much filming for you; its definately easier to have your own mate there!
I'm sure there'll be footage taken, it can just get a little hard to get it all together back off people. If you're bringing a camera i'm happy to come for a couple of runs and get some passenger footage for you, and probably sort some trackside stuff; i guess it depends how much and of what sort you're hoping to get?
As for accomodation, there's plenty of room incl for friends/partners/passengers, but i just need an idea of numbers for the booking. It's a dorm-style bunkhouse (with separate rooms of 4) on a property right next door, $20-$25/night (depending on final numbers, pay down there). Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow. Of course you're free to organise your own accom too if you want!
We generally all head down after work thursday, most of my mates are coming from the northern beaches, but i'm living in alexandria these days, and working in the city, so i usually pick them up as they come through near the airport, then head down the M5.
We aim to leave by 7ish. I'm pretty flexible, happy to make other arrangements depending on where you guys are coming from and what time you can get away. We've met people on the way through round crossroads etc if its too hard to get over east (understandable considering traffic etc). Where is everybody coming from and what sort of time can you comfortably get away? Ideally its easier to meet up somewhere before we head off rather than trying to meet on the move, but at the worst we meet at the shell/maccas 50km short of goulburn if we can't coordinate.
Also, remember you'll need either a CAMS licence, or a valid driver's licence to purchase a Wakefield licence for $40 on the day. Other important things are a helmet, and neck/wrist/ankle length clothing. And some warm clothes, its gunna be cold down there, esp at night!
