Hi,
I'd would of thought a 71 model would have a slider switch. The on-off button came in with the RA23/28 I think.
So, if it is stock, I'd assume you'd have a slider switch, and sliding it to the far right makes it go the coldest. You also need to have the fan on, and also it needs to be in recirc. Engine needs to be doing about 1500rpm or more to kick in the compressor.

Oh and to turn the fan on, you pull the bottom slider out... Took me 3 months to figure out I actually had a heater that works when I first got my TA22, haha.

HAHA.. ohh i feel like an idiot.. right infront of me.. gotta pull the slider.. stupid me... thanx heaps!.
Hit me like a ton of bricks too, haha.. Ergonomics wasn't a priority in the 70's, obviously
Hi,
Yeah... that big block letter bit of text next to the bottom slider control that says "PULL FAN" can be very confusing.
These cars are from the days when people actually could read and understand what they read, insead of pretty symbols.
You are a dunderclump, and your post has amused me. I hope you air con is working now.
