Post IMPORTS101 MaxAuto Action April 9th

    Hi,

Just letting you know that I'll be competing in the afternoon session of the IMPORTS101 MaxAuto Action this Sunday afternoon (between 1pm and 4:30pm). Although I'll be there a bit earlier (sometime between 11:30am and 12pm). There is also a morning session if you want to check that out.

Basically, this is a timed "trial" around cones in the carpark of Belmont Park Raceway (2 runs over each of 3 courses). It will be my first time, but there'll be plenty of other cars and competitors there too – some very good ones.

It's free for spectators (you just watch from the opposite car park, and there is a sausage sizzle thing available apparently). If you feel like coming down to have a look at the action and how I do in the SPIDA, feel free to come along.

To get there, you drive on the Graham Farmer Fwy heading east out of town (i.e. out of the tunnel), and take the slip road to Belmont Park raceway on the left. You should notice cones and cars in the carpark as you drive down. Turn right at the round-about at the entrance so you park where the other spectators are.

Gene The Cone Dodger – I hope it's not wet!

Thumbs up Re: IMPORTS101 MaxAuto Action April 9th

Yeah, they're saying "Possible showers", so I'll have to wait and see. Either way, I'll do my best, just think it would be better for me if it's dry so I don't have to worry about traction quite as much.

Look forward to seeing you down there, and hope I put on a good show

    Gene,
You did fine mate - excellent first time out. And, you went home with a complete car, when a certain BMW M3 could only launch itself over a couple of kerbs...
I reckon the plastic parts he left behind would cost more than a new turbo on your car!
    Cheers,
    Mitch.

Post Re: IMPORTS101 MaxAuto Action April 9th

Here are the final official results from my weekend car fun. To summarise:

    • I came 44th out of 46 cars in outright times (non-adjusted) – with various non-starters that I won’t count.

    • I came 4th in my class – Forced Induction (Turbo/Supercharger) up to 3200cc (mine’s a 1588cc turbo – calculates to 2699cc).

    • I came 4th in the handicap adjusted overall results (with a 3rd in Test4).

So, on handicap, I did pretty well really.

Well done mate, those handicap figures look a lot better than the outright!

You're telling me! Hopefully if I do it a few more times, my performance improves to compensate with the handicap going down.

Here is the spreadsheet of results, with various tabs for outright results, class results and handicap results.

Probably some interesting analysis that can be done. Although I think I did well, I think I'd need to work harder to work my way up the list without a helpful handicap.
