    Default 1JZ-GTE valve clearance

    Geeday,
does anyone know the clearances for a 1JZ-GTE?
also, how do i adjust them on this 'shim on bucket' type system?

    cheers in advance

Check the clearances using feeler gauges when engine is cold.
If there are any out of specs you will need to pull the shim out and measure the shim thickness.

    Formulas to work out shims

    Intake

New shim thickness = Old shim thickness + (Measured Clearance - 0.20mm)

    Exhaust

New shim thcikness = Old shim thickness + (Measured Clearance - 0.30mm)

    cheers Craig

    Cheers!

with the shims, do I just get a pack of shim and cut them out?
what keeps the shims from being flicked of the 'bucket' when the cam goes around?

The shims come in all different sizes so you only need to order the size you need.
The shims sit inside the bucket so you will need to pop them out.

    Cheers Craig

beatle, If you find out you need new/different shims, a good place to get your shims from is http://www.precisionshims.com.au/
Excellent to deal with, well priced (proabably cheaper then genuine but not to sure) and caters for just about any shim type out there.

Just tell him the thickness and diameter of the shims required and you'll be set. I suggest buying a small mircometer to check your current shim thicknesses.
