Default T50 gearbox leak from the gearset case. How to remedy?

On the T50 box, why is there no gasket between the two halves of the gearset case?

I have a leak coming from the case (pretty sure) and when I split it, found no gasket.

Looking at River's thread on here, there is not supposed to be one in there at all.

I'm reluctant to put some loctite gasket maker in because the two halves of the case hold the bearings in. Having a gasket of any kind will most likely do more harm than good.

How do I fix the leak? Is there anywhere else it could be leaking from? Both front and rear seals are new, it seems to be coming from the case itself, up the front, just behind the bellhousing.

    Thanks in advance

    Yo,

The case is sealed using Gasket sealer -

The repair manual states " Apply Liquid Sealer to the case joining surface"

I always use the Toyota sealer but any oil resistant sealer should be good.

If you have split the gearbox - check the two gaskets - one at the front between the case and Bell housing and at the back between the case and extension housing.

    Toyota FIPG. Done.

New gaskets front & rear (or buy the gasket kit, might be cheaper). At this point you might as well check everything and replace any bad parts.

Can't get hold of them new, but the bell and extension housing gaskets are fine anyway.

I sealed the 2 halves of the case with a loctite oil resistant sealer, seems to have worked fine. It's holding the oil in so that's a start I guess.

    Thanks for the help.
