What wires are you looking for grant?

basically all of them that run the dash. i pulled otu the cluster last night and had a heart attack. Without the diagram its a mie field.
The easiest solution is to get the original ecu wiring and connect it up and trace them back which i what i'm doing. JZA70 digital dash is also diferent to MZ20.
If you are keeping the factory dash then there wouldnt be an awful lot that you would have to wire up.
Just all the lights for the sender gauges, oil pressure, water temp, tacho, speedo (off gearbox).
Anything else you want apart from that?

In my experience with a UZZ30 dash (MZ20 should be near enough to identical)
CEL - L-Y
Oil - Y-B
Temp - Y-G
Tacho - B
They are the main ones.
By far the easiest way is to use the old engine loom and trace the necessary wires. (diagnostics port can help for some)

dash lights should be easy to tell from the back of the dash as they are all removable, there is a thin flexable circuit board that runs to most lights so you should be able to work the warning lights out

Cheers guys, this i what we are going to do. At the moment the Dash is black (not working doesn't even light up) so tracing the wanted wires from the original loom makes the most sense.Originally Posted by CrUZida

If the dash is plugged in, then it should always work, as its power comes from the fuse box.
I was working on a GX81 with a digital dash, and we couldn't get the dash working.
Took a punt and bought another dash, and voila, she worked.
Dash had just died.
Another thing to check is the dimmer switch.
With MA61's if you unplug the dimmer switch, the dash turns off.

Interesting. Fues box hasn't be touched and before the 7M engine was removed it worked fine.
There is power to the dash as the door light, handbrake light and battery charge light all work but the digital section doens't seem to be getting power. Am i right in thinking that power for this section would be coming from the ECU hence the leftover connectors where the original loom once was.
There is one GND wire for the whole dash, its odd when you spend ages wiring everything and one single wire turns everythign on...
