    every workshop ive worked in all use hylomar products. spray for head gaskets and paste for everythinug else

    The factory manual for a Peugeot I used to own said to use Linseed Oil.

    Perhaps being a peugeot, the oil prevents the gasket sticking so that next week the job is easier

    Heads are back on with the Hylomer blue.

    I also found a PDF on the intergoogles that was an extract from 3 issues of some classic bike mag that covered the complete rebuild and it said to use hylomer blue on the whole gasket.

    Talking about wierd head gasket sealants. My grand dad always used grease (Wheel bearing I think it was )

    I think grease was used when the gaskets were made from solid copper sheet,

    (Also, you guys who laugh at linseed oil as used in Peugeot, I used it on the last Cressida head gasket I did and there's no problem yet. Many of these new fandangeled goops are specially designed to extract your money.)

    I don't doubt that. In addition, hylomar looks awful on timber decking.
