RT142 Power Steering - What do you know?

Hey all,

I've got a 1985 Corona and it's leaking power steering fluid from the rack and it needs to be rekitted or something...

I want to go full rebuild and most places like Pedders etc said that they'll need the rack for one week at least...I can't go without my steering rack for one week.

Are there any other interchangeable steering racks from other Toyotas? Can anyone give any advice to get me out of this one?

These racks aren't exactly rare...

buy another one from a selfserve wrecker or from another member off here, send it to get overhauled, replace old one with recoed one, problem solved.

(send first to get recoed to, sell on here to another member ??? Profit???)

FYI: Shockreco in Slack Creek? used to be the most cost effective for rack re-co's if I recall...

I've hunted around 5 or so wreckers and the best result I've gotten is a laugh that I'm after anything for an Avante Corona.

But I'll keep my eyes open and thanks again. Any more leads please fill me in!

My local wrecker has a couple of the power steer racks you are looking for, although they do charge through the arse for stuff like that occasionally. If you can't find one up your way PM me although postage may not be cheap
