you could ask Rodi about his setup.
link to rides thread with KE38 running 3RZ-TE
theres some pics part way thru.
so im going to make a turbo manifold soon.
3rzfe, 4 cylinder, high mount turbro. 4->1 collector
i honestly cant guess how many buttweld bends i need. im sure linden or someone can comment on typical numbers used on a 4cyl mani.
ill have a stab and guess something like 270deg worth per cylinder.
so:
8 x short radius 90deg
8 x long rad 90deg
4 x l/r 45deg
thoughts?

I just helped a mate make a 3RZ manifold for his Surf/2wd hilux hybrid thing. You'll need 16-20. Don't bother with short radius bends or 45 degree bends. Short radius a too tight and you get 2 45's for free with every 90. Get non painted bends if you can, the painted ones are a PITA to clean up for welding. Blackwoods do non painted. 40NB is the size.
If this is for a hilux, I found that a merge collector wouldn't agree with the steering shaft so I made a merge from 4 LR elbows.
Edit - Dang, just searched, 3RZ into A80. Interesting.

no offence to original poster, but I love how people expect commercial experts to offer advice on how to try to do their job cheaper at home.
I mean, I know that's the idea of toymods, but imho that's like me asking linden to give me advice on how to weld.
I give my stuff for welding to him for a reason - I've never seen better.

Slow day at work, I'm cranky. Sue me.
edit: ps Brett - love you long time, regardless of above comments.

hello
my excuse is sitting here with a bunch of beers under my belt and Jeff Buckley to listen to... recipe for bitterness/cranky
one more question for JZK25,
did you use straight pipe anywhere? if so where is the best place to purchase?
i did the rounds today, checked blackwoods and tonkin steel. similar costs. i will probably go with blackwoods
hello
Haven't got any pics with me. My mate welded most of it after 5 minutes of me teaching him how to TIG so it's not real pretty.
You will need straight pipe, how much depends on how you shape the manifold. If they sell elbows they will sell pipe too.
im sure it would be prettier than this HKS replica
PS, blackwoods told me they dont sell the matching straight.
maybe ill check their catalogue....
hello
Yeah it's a lot better than that.
What are you welding with?
got access to everything. TIG, MIG, stick, oxy, plasma, mill. should be set. beer is the national currency of engineering workshops.
i havent made a manifold before so we'll see how it goes. i got a dud engine to keep close-by and the good engine in the car, i reckon this is probably the best approach.
any more helpful tips??
ive already read the autospeed articles
