yeah they were the manufacturer and rebuilder, the setup has never been used and the items are either genuine toyota or exedy....i have now put washes between the pressure plate and flywheel to see if that would help but nothing has changed.

I'm having the exact same problem right now with a 2JZ/R154 and Extreme 6 puck clutch. However mine worked fine for a short while before developing this problem. All the parts were new so its got us wondering.
Going to have a closer look at it tomorrow and remove the box (again) if needed. I'll post up if we discover anything interesting that might help you too.

this might not be very helpful but i once had this problem with a 4wd after replacing the clutch
we went through about 3ltrs of brake fluid replaced both master cyl and slave cyl
we got the pressure plate tested by a transmission specialist - tested ok
after having the box out several times and running out of options we decieded to just try another clutch kit
turned out that the brand new pressure plate was faulty!
just something to keep in mind

    dont say that! lol.
i'm not sure if i mentioned it before but when the clutch got checked the guy even backed the pressure off a little so it would disengage a little earlier and it still had no effect......

Well my findings will not be helpful to you but I'm putting it up here all the same.

After removing the box it was clear that the friction material on the clutch disc had bonded itself to the pressure plate/flywheel. It didnt take much to chip it apart, but there are bits of material stuck on the flywheel and pressure plate.
It appears that the ceramic material in the extreme clutch plate just melted. Very poor indeed considering this is 3000km of driving around town.

Unfortunately when it comes to ceramic clutch discs, Exedy and Extreme are the only two available and I am informed by the clutch company that they come from the same factory anyway. I guess I'll just try my luck with a replacement. This time I'm going to go for a 9 puck ceramic disc instead as it should be more driveable.

well that's not whats wrong with my setup as it was all clean as inside the clutch, are you using a cushioned button or just a button clutch?
